Emotional intelligence is about knowing oneself.
It is about knowing what makes us sad and what makes us glad.
It is about knowing what we are good at and what we are not good at.
It is about knowing what trips us up and the strengths that get in our way.
It is about accurately interpreting our own emotions which then gives way to the ability to recognize those same emotions in others.
And once we recognize ourselves in others we get it that we are all the same and we get it that we are not alone.
