I’ve found that the most important work comes to us unexpected in many ways.
For years perhaps we have been laying a foundation of ‘the work’ we declare to be about.
We consistently and deliberately continue to build and prepare and take our work to that next level.
What comes as a surprise is that the greatest work is not often a direct result of our efforts, but rather an indirect extension of our work.
And we must be prepared for it when it comes to us. For the foundation and the building and the preparing is not the actual work, and when the real work shows up, we must put aside the other and grab hold of the opportunity.
Just keep this in mind as you go through your days. Continue building and preparing and establishing that foundation, but don’t get fooled into thinking that is the work.
Rather, be nimble and able to move when the real work shows up.
