There is a stunning and shocking verse found in Ecclesiastes 9:7. It goes like this,
“Go, eat your bread with joy and drink your wine with a merry heart, for God has already approved what you do.”
Every once in a while I am at an event where we are asked to share a favorite Bible verse, and when I rattle this one off there is usually stunned silence.
While simultaneously some sort of leveling off in the spirit of the person.
And expansiveness of soul follows on the heals of this verse.
I think it is because our natural hearts tell us that God is a nasty, angry, abusive, condemning God.
This verse says otherwise. We are simply shocked. Stunned. Without words.
